Born in 1944 in Sofia. Grauated from the Sofia Art College in 1963. In 1969 graduated from the National Academy of Arts in Prof. Alexander Poplilov’s class, major “Poster Art”. Since 1970 he has been working as a set decorator and production designer for the Boyana Film Studio. His filmography as a production designer includes, among others, feature and TV films such as: “At Each Kilometer”, “Doomed Souls”, “The Last Word”, “A Cricket in the Ear”, “On the Tracks of the Missing”, “From the Other Side of the Mirror”, “If You Do Exist”, “Illusions”, “The Other Planet”. He has been a member of the Union of Bulgarian Film Artists since 1979. Zahari Savov has held seven one-man painting shows. He is a regular participant in the Annual General Painting and Stage Design Exhibitions, organized by the Union of Bulgarian Artists. His artworks may be found in the National Art Gallery as well as in private collections in Bulgaria, Belgium, Germany, France, Canada.
