Michail Valkanov was born in 1950 in Sofia, where he also got his еducation in Fine Arts. He works in various fields, such as caricature, graphic art, painting and newspaper/magazine design. As a caricature artist he has worked in the “Sturshel” satirical newspaper. Participated in many exhibitions and biennials in Bulgaria and abroad – Canada, Turkey, Belgium, Greece, former Yugoslavia, Japan, Italy.   Obtained Third prize in Marostica (Italy) in 1982. Held one-man show in caricature in 1981. His philosophical attitude towards life is reflected in his graphic works. His drawings and graphics are owned by collections in Sweden, Belgium, France, etc. Member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists since 1990. In 1991 took stage his one-man graphic exhibition. His last passion is painting. His realistic landscapes touch the most sensitive parts of human soul. His quests in painting demonstrate once again that the artist is a master of the technique and is not afraid of challenge. He held a one-man painting exhibition in 2007 in Sofia. His artworks adorn many homes in Bulgaria, USA, Germany, Great Britain, etc.
